First Posting
The purpose of this blog is to just keep a running tally of what's new and current events as it relates to the health industry.
Funny, that we call it a "health Industry". Industry conotates, to me, big factories and machine complexes. Health couldn't be farther from that today, as we find out that going green, going natural, going organic, is on of the keystones of health.
A recent story on Time.com:
"Parents who suspect that artificial ingredients in food are affecting their children's behavior can now point to some cold, hard proof. A carefully designed study released Thursday in The Lancet, a leading British medical journal, shows that a variety of common food dyes and the preservative sodium benzoate — an ingredient in many soft drinks, fruit juices, salad dressings and other foods — causes some children to become more hyperactive and distractible than usual." Not surprising. Many people have been leary of all the chemicals that have been dumped into our food supply for the last 40 years. I've got a bad feeling that we'll be seeing more articles like this one -- about additives and "enhancements" that were once thought safe, and that now are dangerous.

Meal Replacement Bars are big sellers. From the diet specific bars like Atkins Advantage Bars for low carb diets, Fiber Bars for diets like the Fiber 35 Diet, right on through to protein bars, energy bars and the like. Interestingly, the biggest bar seller of all is a line called Organic Food Bars. (Sheesh, what a generic name!) I always thought that the Clif Bars were the biggest sellers.
